Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Sports Complex

Located near the Benny Farm residential housing project, this new 4 000 m² sports center is situated within a public park and includes two indoor pools, a semi-underground gymnasium, a weight room and two multipurpose rooms.
In accordance with the City of Montreal’s action plan for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2020, this project was designed to obtain (and has since received) LEED Gold certification.

Project Goals :
- Reducing the building footprint to preserve surrounding green spaces and retain existing trees
- Achieve energy efficiency firstly through envelope design and selection of appropriate mechanical systems
- Ensuring high indoor air quality and comfortable interior spaces for employees and visitors
LEED Certification Management - Our mandate :
- Supporting project professionals and the client throughout the LEED certification process
- Feasibility study of possible LEED credits and certification level
- Monitoring credit progress and management of documents for the certification file
- Integration of LEED requirements in the tender documents
- Support and verification during mobilization of the general contractor (erosion and indoor air-quality control plans)
- Quality control during construction
- Revising certification level estimates and analysis of additional costs
- Final assembly and submission of the project LEED and follow-ups during the audit
Results :
- Presentation of a LEED Gold level certification request to the Canadian Green Building Council for evaluation
- Exemplary performance in water consumption reduction and the use of regional materials
- Energy consumption reduced by 45% compared to the Model National Energy Code for Buildings (MNECB)
Status : The project has received LEED Gold certification
